Tooth Restoration

Tooth Restoration

Tooth restoration is performed to: Help maintain a great smile, Stop other teeth moving and ensure continued ease in chewing or talking. Teeth are restored with:

Fillings

We offer a wide range of filling types. White fillings or silver fillings are available. Nowadays fillings are not only functional, but can be natural looking as well. Many people don't want silver fillings that show when they laugh or smile because they are more conscious about the way they look. We can also replace amalgam fillings with white tooth coloured fillings.

Crowns

A crown is an artificial restoration that fits over the remaining part of a prepared tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape of a natural tooth. A crown is sometimes known as a 'cap'. They can also be used to change appearance, size and shape of a tooth. They can also be used to protect broken teeth, very large fillings and can improve the appearance of heavily filled teeth.

Veneers

Veneers are custom made facings which are fixed to teeth. They can be used to improve colour , shape and position of your teeth. The practice also offers bridges to replace missing teeth and a large range of partial denture options. Below is a link to the British Dental Foundation which offers more information about different dental treatment.

Dentures

Dentures can vary depending on the number of teeth they have to replace and the type of material used in their construction. Full dentures and partial dentures are available, these can be made in acrylic or with a metal skeleton base The treatment option most suitable for you will differ depending on the clinical situation and your requirements. Your dentist will discuss the treatment options that are most suitable.
Prevention / Oral Health

Prevention / Oral Health

Helping our patients get into the routine of caring for their teeth and gums is very important to us. Prevention of decay and gum problems enables you to maintain a healthy smile.

Hygienist appointments

Hygienist appointments are available for routine maintenance for example scale and polish, which involves removing calculus build up and polishing teeth to remove staining.

The hygienist can also give advice about brushing and oral hygiene and ways to manage or treat sensitive teeth.

The hygienist also can be involved in the treatment of more complicated gum problems and gum disease. This type of treatment will be overseen by your dentist.

Orthodontics

____

What is orthodontics?

Orthodontics usually involves wearing braces, fixed or removable which are used to straighten teeth and correct the bite. Treatment improves the appearance and can make the teeth easier to look after, helping to maintain the long term health of the teeth and gums. You will continue to see your usual family dentist for all of you regular examinations and general dental treatment.

Can anybody be treated?

Anyone can have orthodontic treatment, age is not a barrier. Both children and adults can have appearance and their smile enhanced by orthodontics.

The first visit

You will initially come for a consultation appointment with Mr Watson. This appointment is used to identify present and future orthodontic problems and plan the most appropriate time to start treatment. Impressions of your teeth and appropriate radiographs will be taken to aid diagnosis.
